Alexia Lonnoy

Hello, and welcome!

At this point in your life, you might be feeling depressed or anxious about the future. Or perhaps life seems meaningless to you. You might be noticing that there are parts of yourself blocking you from moving towards your goals, or parts of yourself sabotaging your relationships, or your career. Maybe relationships feel difficult and exhausting and you would like things to be easier.

I believe that living to our full potential, personally, romantically, socially, and professionally, is the goal of our existence. In my psychotherapy practice, I aim to make sense with you of what is holding you back so that more flow can emerge into your life. A life worth living is a life of expansion, self-knowledge, and truth.

By bringing gentle awareness of your situation, you have the opportunity to make sense of what is going on for you, so that you can find more freedom and energy in living your life. Psychotherapy is a healing process that necessitates your participation and investment as well as mine, in order to find a new and freer way of living.

I offer individual, couple, and group psychotherapy, in either English or French.

Individual Psychotherapy:

If you are aware that your life is not as satisfying as it could be, and you are looking for ways to improve it, I accompany you so that we can make sense of what is happening inside you, supporting you to find a way to a more fulfilling life. I believe that the goal of our existence is to learn to become more and more fully ourselves, so that we can feel more alive. A lot of us are living restricted lives, crippled by fear, sabotaging our growth, disconnected from life, unable to allow ourselves to feel.

I will walk with you on the path of self-discovery, self-acceptance, and self-love.

Body Talk:

I believe that bodily issues such as chronic and semi-chronic pain, medically unexplained fatigue, and other symptoms resistant to medical treatment can often be understood by starting an open conversation with the body. We often find that these stubborn and frustrating pains actually have a purpose and function for us. As paradoxical as this may seem, the psyche is a very powerful and purposive element, whose goal is to maintain our psychological safety. The psyche can maintain the body's status quo despite evident frustration with the pain that emerges from it.

In our work, I help you to identify the function of your physical symptoms so that we can find a different way of meeting your psychological needs that does not need to inflict illness on your body.

Your body has been speaking to you. Now is the time to listen to what is being said.

Couple Neuro-Therapy:

With my partner working as a neuroscientist, we offer you couple sessions in which you learn to understand what happens both to your mind and within your body when you feel triggered during a fight.

As a psychotherapist, I will be helping you become aware of your triggers, and supporting you to understand yourself better, and becoming more able to authentically speak to, as well as listen to your partner.

As a neuroscientist, my partner will teach you to recognise the signs of your nervous system becoming disregulated, as well as techniques to help you soothe yourself.

Professional background:

I am a UKCP-accredited psychotherapist with a speciality in psychodrama psychotherapy. I also hold a Master of Sciences in Theoretical Psychoanalysis from UCL which informs the way I work. I work with a combination of verbal and embodied techniques, bringing together psychodrama psychotherapy techniques and the depth of psychoanalytic theory and practice.

I work for the NHS in a day service for adults who are considered to have "complex and enduring psychological difficulties". I also work in my private practice with people who are experiencing difficulties in their relationships or at work, and who would like to find more meaning in their life.

Therapy Qualifications:

  • MSc in Theoretical Psychoanalysis, UCL - Distinctions

  • Post-Graduate Diploma in Individual and Group Psychodrama Psychotherapy, LCP
